On a Saturday afternoon you may find James playing his favourite video games, enjoying a movie or digging into his favourite food. He dreams of being a Head Chef one day.
He approached Ability Options and was encouraged to join the WorkReady service where he could gain work experience in a chosen area. He decided that he would try the Food and Beverage industry as it would get him one step closer to his dreams of becoming a chef.
WorkReady organised a Work Experience placement for James at Grill’d. He felt he performed well during his work experience, and really enjoyed the experience of working as part of a team.
Grill’d then offered to keep James as an ongoing casual employee. They sought the assistance of an Ability Options to negotiate a contract for paid employment.
We liaised with Grill’d Human Resources and successfully negotiated the terms and conditions that would benefit both the employer and James.
James has just reached 3-months in his job and continues to learn new skills and is also being trained in cooking and plating. James’s passion for cooking has also motivated him to enrol into a Cert II in Kitchen Operations to upskill himself with his aspirations to become a Head Chef one day.
James has gained a lot of experience and enjoys his job at Grill’d saying that
