Emma started WorkReady at Ability Options in January 2017 funded by the NDIS. Ability Options WorkReady services reverse marketed Emma to childcare Centre’s as Emma was interested in Childcare and gained a work experience placement at Lapstone Preschool and has been attending for 6 months one day per week. Emma’s goal has been to work and help people either in childcare or a support role working with People with disabilities.
Some highlights in Emma’s time at the service was when Emma learnt how to start a conversation with her peers and built on her independence in working independently. Emma also participates in skill building Workshops at Ability Options “WorkReady “ topics included - Resume writing, Mock interviews as well as attended and participating in a series of social days and this has assisted Emma in building her confidence and communication skills to achieve her goal of finding part time employment.
Ability Options case managed Emma with one to one supports in conversations, building confidence and interview preparation. Ability Options reversed marketed Emma and supported her through an interview process where she successfully gained Employment as a District Support Officer at Uniting and commences in October 2017.
Emma walked proudly in to Ability Options after she was told the news, putting her hands in the air saying “I got the job” Well Done Emma, what an inspirational journey!
