Michelle began work experience with the Salvos retail store in St Marys back in March. Michelle procured this work experience through personal connections and linked the Salvos in St Marys with Ability Options WorkReady Penrith service to secure ongoing work experience with them.

Michelle has shown incredible growth and development through her work experience. She has found an avenue to use her great interpersonal skills in interacting with her co-workers (who love her!) and showcasing her customer service skills by assisting customers.

One of Michelle’s favourite duties at work experience is sorting through the DVDs. Here, Michelle organises and categorises the DVDs along with ensuring that they are in the correct place. Michelle has gained retail experience through her role in organising the clothes section. She is responsible for ensuring clothing are all hung up correctly and placed in the correct section based on their sizes. Michelle also enjoys colour coding the clothing racks to enhance the presentation of the clothing area.

Michelle consistently has been attending work experience weekly. More recently, Michelle has taken the initiative to request training on the front registers and has been given the opportunity to learn the ropes from experienced staff. We are excited to see how Michelle continues to progress in her ongoing work experience and thank the Salvos in St Marys for hosting and supporting Michelle. Great work Michelle!
