NDIS Short Term Accommodation (STA) Services
Formerly known as Short Term Respite.
Short Term Accommodation (STA) provides temporary support for people with disability and their informal carers, offering a break from daily routines and caring responsibilities.
At Ability Options, our STA services are designed to deliver meaningful, person-centred experiences for participants, while helping carers recharge and continue in their vital roles.
We offer flexible and accessible STA supports at our dedicated respite accommodations in Raymond Terrace and Port Macquarie.
In urgent situations, emergency accommodation may be available to support NDIS participants with complex needs or those experiencing crisis, ensuring timely access to short term respite when it’s needed most.
Is Short Term Accommodation the same as Respite?
The NDIS has changed the language used for this support a few times over the last couple of years.
You may still hear the terms Short Term Accommodation, Short Term Respite or respite care used interchangeably. In most cases, they refer to the same NDIS-funded support. The updates to terminology places greater emphasis on the respite benefits for both participants and the people who support them.
Although the name of the service may change, the service itself remains much the same — providing temporary accommodation and tailored support in a different environment, while also giving families and informal carers an opportunity to take a break.
