WorkReady Youth Training and Life Skills program, formerly known as School Leavers Employment Supports (SLES) or Transition to Work (TTW) provides you with the skills, knowledge and real-world experience to go into the world of work with confidence.
Whether you’re eager to join the workforce straight away, or are thinking of doing some further study or training, WorkReady is designed to equip you with the skills, support and training to help you reach your goals.
First we get to know you. We find out where your interests lie, what your needs are, and where you want to go. Then we get you there by developing a personalised plan, which we regularly review with you and your family to make sure we’re on track.
To get you ready for your working life, we set you up with a support network of trained and dedicated staff. We also provide support for those who are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, or from a non-English Speaking background.
We equip you with the skills and knowledge to communicate and get along with others. We also help familiarise you with job ads, timetables, rosters, payslips and work safety, and teach you about your rights and responsibilities in the workplace.
We organise hands-on work experience in workplaces that match your interests and employment goals. You can also try out jobs in various industries to get a real taste of what they’d be like.
We put together a professional resume for you, collect feedback and references from your work experience, and connect you with our extensive network of employers to help you find a job you like – and keep it.
This program supports all National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) categories for youth, including ‘Increase social and community participation’ and ‘Assistance with daily life’, as well as ‘Finding and keeping a job’.
