Michelle, a visually impaired artist and participant in our Support Coordination services, has been captivating art enthusiasts with her beautifully handmade diamond bead creations for four years. Her artistic journey, much like her life, is a testament to perseverance, passion and growth.
Michelle says she began her creative journey when she discovered the calming effect of working with diamond beads, and the joy of seeing the finished piece.
“Seeing the finished piece, with every bead perfectly in place, is such a rewarding feeling,” Michelle says.
“It’s my way of expressing myself and bringing beauty into the world, despite my visual challenges.”
Alana, Michelle’s Support Coordinator, says Michelle’s creativity has helped broaden her perspective and enriched her day-to-day life.
“With the support of her NDIS plan, which includes community support and swimming lessons, I have seen Michelle flourish as an artist, showcasing her resilience and unwavering creativity,” Alana says.
Michelle says she focuses her creations on animals and natural landscapes, filling her pieces with vibrant colours and intricate details.
“I’ve always been drawn to nature and animals,” Michelle says.
“It feels right to capture their beauty in my own way.”
