I got my job through Ability Options, I had been moving around from job to job and wasn’t going too well. Eventually I decided to make a change, I pulled my head out and started working hard. I have been here at Nova Springwater for a quite a few years.
The bosses here are quite laid back, they still expect you to work hard, but are nice about it. They positively reinforce and encourage me.
Having a job has given me money to spend, I prefer to work as much as I can, I am relied upon here.
Working is better than not having a job, when I was at TAFE I was on Centrelink and I didn’t like it that much. I also make more money working than what I would with Centrelink.
I help out at home with board when I can, I started paying it to help out, I knew my parents were struggling, so I am happy I can help.
My main job here is to mold the plastic bottles into the shape that’s needed. I have my forklift drivers license now, this has allowed me to be able to do more at work and be better in my job. I’ve had my good and bad times here and Ability Options have been there for me in the bad times, and helped me sort it out, they have been great.
Working here has helped me change. I am a little slow with life, I am on medication for depression and I have Asperger’s and these things are not going to go away, I live with my situation. Working has helped me open up to people more to help them understand my conditions and not be narrow minded about working with people with disabilities.
