Overcoming initial job challenges through hard work and dedication, Louise is now approaching her four month work milestone as part of the team at The Legal Grind café in Parramatta. Ability Options' Disability Employment Services (DES) team is pleased to have been part of Louise's great journey and also very proud of her achievement.
When Louise finished Year 10, she joined the Ability Options Transition to Work Program (TTW) to bridge the gap between school and job readiness. Once she finished the two year TTW program, Louise signed up to the Ability Options Employment program.
Louise’s Employment Advisor was inspired by her happy demeanour and willingness to assist everyone around her and suggested enrolling in our Recipe for Success program.
Recipe for Success is a five week program offering practical and educational training which includes Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Responsible Service of Gambling (RCG) courses, Safe Food Handling Certificate, Barista introduction and a Certificate II in Retail and Food Services qualification. The program is designed to assist people interested in a career in the customer service, hospitality and retail industries.
Louise’s confidence and self-esteem grew throughout the program and her bubbly personality shone, earning her the group's ‘Shining Star Award’ at the graduation ceremony.
As part of the 'Recipe for Success' program, Louise completed a practical work experience course to put her new skills into action. Following her work placement, Louise was able to secure employment at The Legal Grind café in Parramatta.
