Fawaz has been with WorkReady Hornsby for almost two years, and right before the COVID-19 lockdown hit, he got a job offer from Gloria Jean’s Cafe where he had previously completed work experience.

He began his work experience placement with Gloria Jean’s Café, Westfield Hornsby a few months ago, and when asked if he enjoyed the experience, he said that he enjoyed it because he would like to pursue a career where he can give the best service to his customers. Looking at his journey with us, he has achieved so many great things which have led him to this point.

In 2018, Fawaz completed a barista course with CBD College Sydney, where he gained a certificate and a basic knowledge of Barista skills. Given that he did the course three years ago, it was challenging for him to try and remember all the details.

The Gloria Jean’s Café team was so supportive of him, that in such a positive environment, he developed his confidence to perform in the role. Fawaz was so committed to his development over the years; he joined group workshops, attended his one-on-one sessions, and enrolled in other courses where he gained work-ready skills.

Since the beginning of this year, Fawaz has expressed his eagerness to gain paid work and earn his own money. He always thought about how he could get a paid job and be independent financially. With the support that he received from his family and Ability Options; he has fulfilled his amazing goal. Congratulations Fawaz!
