Mustafa was in his final year at university, studying a Master of Business & Administration, when he joined the University Specialist Employment Partnerships (USEP) program. Before he joined, Mustafa, who has a visual impairment, was working in a workplace which didn’t value inclusion, often experiencing exploitation and discrimination in the workforce.
Through his participation in the USEP program, Mustafa received ongoing support from his employment consultant, Dragana, who assisted him in finding a suitable role in an organisation that is inclusive and accommodating towards his needs. Mustafa also received guidance in building his confidence, which helped him to overcome his past experiences and navigate through his employment goals.
The support and encouragement that the USEP program provided, eventually saw Mustafa become successful in securing a full-time position as a Business Support Officer.
Mustafa is very happy working in his current role, and is grateful to both Dragana and Ability Options, who went above and beyond to help him organise his current placement, saying that ‘without USEP, I wouldn’t be happily employed.’
USEP is a partnership between universities and local Disability Employment Service providers that deliver free on-campus employment services to both graduating and graduated students with disability who are seeking employment. The services provided by the USEP program aim to assist students with disability to find and secure suitable employment that not only meets their specific needs, but also aligns with their studies.
