It was hard to miss Jessica when you walked into Ability Options’ office at Mount Druitt. She was always there to greet you and her energy is infectious.

Now working on a project to support participants to maintain employment, Jessica started her journey at Ability Options as an employment consultant, supporting people in finding and keeping meaningful employment.

Throughout her time at Ability Options, Jessica has built great relationships with the many participants she has helped. One of Jessica’s most memorable achievements with Ability Options was when she supported a participant with vision impairment to successfully complete her admin traineeship. Jessica also helped the participant to travel independently to work and confidently find her way around the workplace with the assistance of her guide dog. She recalls that it was both empowering and life-changing for the participant.

Jessica loves her job and enjoys working at Ability Options:

“I love that working at Ability Options means I get to help positively change peoples’ lives. I have seen first-hand how getting a job and having the right support can dramatically change someone’s path. Knowing that I played a part in that is incredibly rewarding.”

The experience and relationships Jessica has gained and developed over the years have allowed her to appreciate and have a better understanding on what it means to get a job and what it takes to find the right support to achieve that goal. In 2020, Jessica was awarded the Ability Options Chair Award, thanks to the many compliments and positive feedback she received from participants she supported in their employment journeys.

Jessica was brand new into the industry when she first joined Ability Options six years ago.

“I love that in my six years, I’ve had the chance to work in different roles, including as a Disability Employment Services (DES) Manager. I’ve met so many new people and participants, and I picked up great skills and experiences along the way.”

Jessica hopes to continue to support people in their employment journey and celebrate their achievements.
