Ability Options was proud to sponsor the 2025 Kempsey Big Day Out!
Held last Friday, 28 November, this annual event brings together service providers, local businesses, family carers and community members to celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD).
Our local team hosted a fun and welcoming stall filled with interactive activities for everyone to enjoy. With arts and crafts, soft play area, prizes and games, there was plenty to get involved in!
We also invited attendees to contribute to our “What does inclusion mean to you?” art wall. People were encouraged to share thoughtful words and drawings with the final work gifted to the Kempsey Shire Council.

The Ability Options team had many meaningful conversations with community members who were eager to learn more about our services and the support we provide.
We were also fortunate to have Rick, our Counselling & Mental Health Manager, on the ground, speaking with attendees about Low Intensity Mental Health (LIMH) supports and the positive impact they can have in someone’s life.
“Connection is core to wellbeing. One of the key dimensions of mental health we promote in LIMH is social connection,” Rick shares.
“Events like the Kempsey Big Day Out create opportunities for people to feel part of something bigger, connect without judgement, and experience the power of community. We’re grateful to be part of this day of celebration, and inclusion.

Inclusion is everyone’s business. Disability touches all of us, directly or indirectly. For me, inclusion means actively breaking down stigma so people living with disability are welcomed, respected, and recognised as vital contributors to the fabric of our communities. This message was at the heart of our participation in this year’s event and we’re grateful to be a part of it.”
– Rick, Counselling & Mental Health Manager
