Navigating the NDIS can sometimes feel complex — especially when it comes to understanding funding, budgets and invoices.
Behind the scenes, the Plan Management team at Ability Options helps make the financial side of the NDIS simpler for participants and their families.
As part of a mission-led organisation supporting people living with disability, our Plan Management team brings both financial expertise and a deep understanding of the NDIS and the people it supports.

“We work alongside participants, families and providers to make the financial side of the NDIS simple and stress-free,” says Angie, Plan Management Officer.
“Our role is to support choice and control, while making sure funding is used in line with NDIS guidelines.”
Participants have several options for managing their NDIS funding. They can choose to manage the budget themselves, have the NDIA pay providers directly, or work with a third-party Plan Manager — like the team at Ability Options.
For many participants, plan management offers the flexibility of choosing their own providers without the stress of handling invoices and financial administration.
“It’s people first, always,” Angie says.
“Behind every payment is a real person working toward meaningful goals. That’s what motivates the team every day.”
“We love seeing participants gain independence and access the supports that improve their daily lives. Being part of that journey is what makes the work rewarding.”
In simple terms, Plan Management means taking care of the financial administration so participants and their families don’t have to — paying providers, tracking budgets and explaining how funding works.
“This allows participants to focus on their supports and everyday life, instead of worrying about paperwork.”

Turning confusion into confidence
NDIS funding can feel overwhelming at first. Categories, budgets and rules aren’t always easy to navigate.
Angie says a big part of the team’s role is breaking things down clearly and keeping communication open.
“We provide regular budget updates, simple explanations and proactive communication. When participants understand their funding, they can make informed choices,” she says.
One of the most meaningful moments for the team is when a participant says they finally understand their plan.
“When someone goes from feeling overwhelmed to feeling confident, that’s when we know we’ve made a real difference.”
Support that builds trust
For the Plan Management team, strong relationships are everything.
“We always remember that the plan belongs to the participant. We provide guidance, but decisions remain with them,” Angie says.
Being approachable, responsive and respectful helps participants feel heard and in control — exactly how the NDIS is designed to work.
At the heart of it all, their impact is simple:
“Our work helps turn NDIS funding into real supports that improve everyday life.”
