Ability Options’ Coffs Harbour-based Occupational Therapist Daniela was recently awarded this year’s Practice Education Commendation by Southern Cross University’s Occupational Therapy program.
“I was surprised to receive the commendation and felt a sense of gratitude to my fourth-year students I had mentored for nominating me,” Daniela says.
This recognition highlights not just her individual excellence but also the critical role of quality education in the Occupational Therapy field. Daniela was also celebrated for her efforts in creating a positive and supportive work environment within the Therapy team at our 2024 STAR Awards, taking home the Teamwork Award.
Ability Options General Manager on the Mid North Coast Nick praises Daniela as “one of our highest-performing therapists”.
“Her dedication to providing quality education and supervision has truly impacted our participants, and we’re proud to have her as part of the Ability Options team,” he says.
Daniela’s commitment to mentoring and supporting students shows the high standards of the occupational therapy profession.
“It made me reflect on the role I play in helping to develop upcoming Occupational Therapists. They are the future of my profession and play an important part in helping people in our society across all ages, abilities, and cultures,” she says.
“Each participant teaches me something new and helps to inform my clinical decision making, supervision of other staff and personal experiences.
