What are Specialist Counselling Services for Work?

Our specialist counselling supports are for anyone who is linked with our employment service programs. Our Counsellors have a deep understanding of the impact that mental ill-health, disability and disadvantage have on people’s lives and recognise the importance that work, and education play in achieving a sense of inclusion and positive self-esteem.

Our Counsellors are person-centred professionals who work from a strengths-based approach, and can assist with:

  • Goal setting
  • General counselling
  • Behavioural counselling
  • Adjustment to disability counselling
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Psychosocial assessment
  • Confidence building strategies
  • Depression and anxiety management
  • Connection to other services

Availability

Our Specialist Counselling Services for Work currently offered in Greater Sydney, Hunter and Central Coast.

Our counselling services are for participants linked with our employment service programs and can be accessed through the NDIS, Disability Employment Services (DES), Workforce Australia & ParentsNext.

To access our Counselling Services for Work, simply speak to an Ability Options staff member and ask for a referral. Appointments are offered on a weekly or fortnightly basis and can continue for up to 6 months after you secure a job.
