Rose has attended WorkReady since August of 2018 where she joined us as a Year 12 student. Rose had a goal of learning employment skills in the hope of eventually getting a job within the hospitality industry.

Rose expressed to Consultants that she loved cooking but did not think this is something she was capable of doing for work. Our staff worked with Rose on customer service, appropriate behaviour, communication skills and money counting skills before placing her in to work experience at North Ryde RSL. The North Ryde RSL welcomed Rose with open arms; teaching her all that is hospitality and customer service. After just a couple of weeks there, the club approached us with the offer of paid employment. Since then North Ryde RSL have taken Rose in as one of their own and have her working in the service area where she charms the customers and receives a number of compliments on her manner.

Rose couldn’t have imagined that she would be successful in getting a job after just 4 months of starting attending the WorkReady program.

“Rose absolutely loves her job! It gives her a sense of purpose and achievement throughout the week that she wouldn’t get from other tasks. She now feels so much more comfortable in a work environment. It has also improved her social skills as she works with such great people on a day to day basis that make her feel welcome. She loves their company. She is so grateful for all the opportunities Ability Options has provided her.” – Rose’s mother

We are proud of how far Rose has come in such a short period of time and look forward to continue working with her to continue to improve upon her employment and life skills.
