Ability Options shines in Disability Employment Services Star Ratings

Posted 27 February 2017

Ability Options continues to provide exceptional employment outcomes for people with disability and their employers.

The Department of Social Services have recently published their DES Star Ratings for the last quarter of 2016, positioning Ability Options as a leading DES provider in the Employment Service Areas of Central Western Sydney, Outer Western Sydney, Macarthur and Nepean.

Ability Options has sustained its strong quarter on quarter performance, achieving an average overall star rating of 3.8 – well above the national average of 3.1 stars.

Martin Rowley, Business Performance Manager – DES, says the star ratings are a fitting recognition of the remarkable employment outcomes the 16 DES sites have achieved over the period for both job seekers and businesses.

“The latest Star Rating affirms our position of being a provider of choice for people with disability and the business community who recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce,” said Martin.

“The Star Ratings measure our effectiveness over a three year period of placing job seekers into sustainable employment, with a strong emphasis on achieving longevity.”

The recent DES Star Ratings indicate that all Ability Options sites have gone from strength to strength, with all sites either maintaining or improving their star rating from the previous quarter. 50% of Ability Options DES contracts achieved a star rating of 4 or above, with 5 stars being awarded to sites in Camden, Campbelltown, Merrylands, Mount Druitt, Riverstone, Seven Hills, and Windsor.

Brenda Odewahn, Executive Leader - Employment & Social Enterprise, says the organisation is now poised to support even more people with disability to find and keep sustainable jobs.

“This places us in a strong position for future expansion possibilities,” said Brenda.

“We’ve recently acquired a significant number of new job seekers in the Central West and Outer Western Sydney regions through recent business reallocation.”

Disability Employment Services Star Ratings system measures the relative success of providers in achieving outcomes for job seekers taking part in the program. Job seekers and employers can use star ratings to help them choose the right provider for them.
